Maria has been accompanying her friends at the local woodland theater rehearsals. While she is happy to help out, she also enjoys the free licorice and carrot cake.
On her way home, you can hear her softly playing her guitar under the stars.

"Wanda's Valentine"
Oil on Arches watercolor paper, 3"x2.25”
Outside frame dimensions: 5”x4.125”
Wanda was delighted to get this sweet Valentine in her mailbox, but it wasn’t signed! She is very curious who it’s from! She is a little cross at me for not letting her know who her admirer is, but she knows I’m good at keeping a secret, and glad of it, since she tells me her secrets from time to time.

Oil on Arches watercolor paper, with painted frame border.
Miss Julia is feeling fetching in her new evening gown! She is excited to be going to the woodland solstice ball where there will be music, petit fours and carrot finger sandwiches. And then she hopes to find time with the other bunnies of the Woodland Philosophical Society, so she can discuss her new views on Plato's Theory of Forms.
This was part of my solo show with Nucleus Portland, July 2024.

The Raspberry
Oil on Arches watercolor paper 5"x5"
Cecilia was so surprised by the wind and rain while delivering letters to the post office, that she dropped all the letters, in sacrifice to preserving the raspberry she found along the way.
Reminds me of when I insist on carrying as many things at once as I can, even though I know it probably won’t end well (usually involves coffee spilling).
Cecilia appeared as part of my solo show with Nucleus Portland Gallery in July 2024.

Chester's Serenade
Oil on gessoboard panel, 10"x8"
Chester can often be found charming an audience from near and far while he practices on his lute. He is tickled when he visits the town square and can hear other woodland friends humming one of his tunes.
Chester was part of my solo show, “Animalus Smallus,” with Nucleus Portland Gallery in July 2024.

Miles's Predicament
Oil on gessoboard panel, 7"x5"
A frizzle!
A frazzle!
A jumbled ball of red!
Before Miles knew it...
A pile of yarn
was on his head!
Miles was helping roll the red yarn into a ball for his Auntie Frances, but things went awry somehow.
Some days are just like that, aren't they, Miles? But Miles asked for help, and now everything is in order, and all the colorful yarns are in neat little round rows, ready for Auntie's next project.
Miles was part of my solo show, “Animalus Smallus,” with Nucleus Portland Gallery in July 2024.

Higgins finally found the most perfect strawberry to make jam for his famous almond and bark scones. He’s serving them with mushroom tea tomorrow afternoon, promptly at 4:00. He said I was allowed to invite you to come along with me, but reminded me not to be late!
Higgins was part of my solo show, “Animalus Smallus,” with Nucleus Portland Gallery in July 2024.

Night Night
Oil on Arches watercolor paper
When the stars are a-twinkle,
And the moon glows bright,
Fern takes a leisurely…lovely,
Late night flight!
Taking time to be by yourself is healing and gives you space to grow and self reflect. Fern knows this all too well!
Fern was part of my solo show, “Animalus Smallus,” with Nucleus Portland Gallery in July 2024.

A Moment's Rest
Oil on Arches watercolor paper, 9"x6"
Eleanor has had a busy morning visiting friends! Here she stops for a moment of solitude, to recharge and regroup. It's not always easy for an introverted bird to be part of the flock.
Eleanor was part of my solo show, “Animalus Smallus,” with Nucleus Portland Gallery in July 2024.

Harmony
Oil on gessoboard panel, 10"x8"
Priscilla is studying music theory with Professor Bugglesworth at the local woodland academy. She's glad he's not here right now to hear her mistakes, but is glad when he corrects her at her lessons, because she learns a lot.
Have you ever noticed how the best teachers can explain one thing in multiple ways? You never know which way will spark the understanding!
Priscilla appeared in my solo show, “Animalus Smallus,” with Nucleus Portland Gallery in July 2023.
