Ralphy is very proud of this year's entry into the perfect toast contest at the village fair this year. He practices without fail EVERY morning. He can toast ten different pieces at 10% percent percentages of glorious golden-ness up to just before burnt! It's stunning really, and this year he's being honored for it.

I applaud people who try to become the best at any one activity regardless of how important said activity might be. At the very least it instills a sense of personal pride of the good kind, which can go a long way in life and the world, no?

In a moment of quiet contemplation, little Mina dreams of strawberries and aurora borealis. The mermouse imagination is so vivid, that it appears true to life for anyone around her. While it's a wonderful ability, and can be very entertaining for the wee mermouses, it takes practice to hide it when necessary.

Very softly in the distance, you can hear Brigitte playing the magical ukelele, named Petra in her territory to the north of Frooeezia. Petra will even play on her own while Brigitte sleeps. They both watch over their world’s elixirs, and catalog the letters of forgotten wishes.

Petey is a ferricorn you can spot peeping up over perennials and parsley (he has a weakness for parsley) and loves to run with butterflies! Sometimes he forgets to watch where he's going and slams into shrubs. But he's a courageous fellow who protects his meadow from harm whenever he can.

We all have important things to take care of, but it's important to know when to let go and fave fun...just keep those eyes open!

Princess Bedelia loves to throw small garden parties where the only thing served is scrumptious desserts and tea. She appears quite ladylike and dainty here, but remember she is a raccoon after all and...she adores blueberry pie!

Her lady's maid becomes quite cross when she has to remove blueberry stains from Bedelia's bodice.

It's good to have good manners and be proper at the right times, but sometimes you just have to let it all hang out and be yourself!

Priscilla is woefully playing a song for her lost love, Franklin Villamar von Framfrizzle who is pictured behind her at right.

He was a dashing outdoorsman, an avid mycologist, and a great orator on topics such as politics and the value of stinky cheeses.

He succumbed to the temptation of peanut butter in a most precarious situation.

Ambrose can't believe his eyes when he finds a few peanuts in his part of the forest! His absolute favorite! He had planned to share whatever he found with his sister, but he is tempted to eat the peanuts before he goes home and just give her the walnuts. He's a good chap, though...I know he'll share!

I think love can be found in the tiniest of actions...and some of these can go totally unnoticed.

Beatrix guards her part of the meadow from sundown to sunrise. You can often hear her humming a sweet and enchanting tune that lilts on the moonlit breeze. It gently disorients those who might cause harm to the meadow, causing them to move away from her dominion and keeping all the little animals under her care safe and happy.

If only we could charm our world to keep our loved ones safe from harm.

A rare glimpse of a wee Bengal mouse indigenous of Wallawilla Phroonesia! If you ever go to Phroonesia, travel to the east mountains of Fong and follow the rocky path up and to the right of the sparkling waterfall and pull yourself up to the very very top! Then, just beside a stack of rocks, there's a goat that can direct you to a forest where the Bengal mouse can be seen from 3:47pm to 4:08pm on every third Sunday of a month with 33 days.

Wendell P. Frizzmerantz is on his way to his friend's house for a birthday party. His mother made him take an umbrella even though it's perfect outside. (Yes, he rolled his eyes.) He loves buttered toast, noodles with garlic salt, freckles on kittens, and operettas involving Hungarian folklore. He really hopes there's going to be strawberry shortcake at the party!

Walter found the perfect pair of binoculars, so he has been exploring his surroundings and writing in his journal, documenting every wonderful sight he has seen since! He has always been curious about the natural world around him but learned he loves researching even more! He loves butterflies and lizards and always carries shortbread and lemonade in his traveling bag when he goes on his adventures.

Making time to do what you love to do is so important. These activities can help melt stress after a hard day or help you feel more grounded when life gets really tough.

Toby creates magic wherever he goes, with a single footstep or the twitch of his nose. He dreams of being a full-fledged magician one day, instead of a mere apprentice! I’ve always felt that you can’t wait for things to happen, you have to make them happen for yourself. Which could be why I was two months premature.

I've always been in a kind of hurry! Instead of waiting for inspiration, just create. Instead of waiting for opportunities, create opportunities. And even if things don’t turn out the way you expect, at least you did something!

Squirrels are natural planners in that they hide food constantly. They pretend to bury food sometimes to confuse their competitors! So it’s not surprising that they are bad at remembering where they buried stuff! I can’t remember where I hide my secret food either, Oliver! (Yes. I hide secret food. Usually chocolate. Doesn’t everyone?!)

Ms. Vinklefoffen has tea everyday at 4:15 precisely and never uses milk or lemon, just a little sprig of mint. She has a wonderful antique thimble collection, can train a bonsai tree like a master, and can read your tarot with uncanny accuracy. Irresistible to others, she is the always the life of the party, but an utter enigma.

Lady Mirabella loves her part of the world, but sneaks off to Florence when her father is away on business. She has a close friend who apprentices at an artist's studio there and he teaches her everything he learns. She is determined to become a painter and wants to surprise her father with a portrait of him someday. She hopes it will convince him to let her follow her dreams.

I feel that I've followed my chosen path in life, but would like to think I would have had the courage and commitment to do what I pleased if it were a few centuries ago. Although the world is still testing women's liberties all around the world today. Courage like Lady Mirabella's is needed world round.

Simone has a magnetism about her, like a tune she hears that she's never heard before, but knows enough to hum the melody. So she goes about her daily work with hopes of sunny summer days.

Sometimes humans get tangled up in what they have envisioned would make them happy and become unhappy if that vision doesn't manifest exactly as expected. They even spend their lives waiting for things to become "perfect," and become inconsolable when they don't. I've found that if you let go of the details...even just a little bit...you just may find that life has provided you with exactly what you wanted after all, and maybe even in a better way than you thought.

Cornelius LOVES fairy tales. For his 111st birthday (pronounced "eleventy-first" - like Bilbo Baggins would say), his friends got him the most extraordinary anthology of tales! He has been reading one paragraph at a time to savor every magical moment. He is very thankful for the new reading glasses he found on a bench in the meadow that will help in this pursuit. Little did he know that his squirrel friend, Leopold, left them there for him to find, because he could tell that Corn needed glasses, but didn't want to hurt his pride.

Holden and László are quite the pair! They sneak off from the duties of woodland life as often as they can to practice their songs under the sun or moon, rain or shine! Nothing can keep them away from it! Good thing they found this secret mushroom to store their instruments! They leave a letter and the key underneath too — just in case — to let strangers know they can feel free to play the instruments, but to please leave them there and lock up when they are done.

Have you ever been so in sync with another person, that you can predict what they are doing, or you just flow extra well when you are working together? It's a wonderful thing when it happens!

This special mushroom piece was a part of the “Cluster” exhibit at Nucleus House in Portland, OR in April of 2023.

In her past life, Annabel was a flower girl in Victorian London. These days, over a hundred and fifty years later, she still roams the streets with a basket of flowers, but instead of selling them,

she gifts them to someone who could use some cheering up. So if you ever find a flower beside you without explanation, perhaps it was little Annabel's gift to you!

Hazel and Zeus became best of friends a couple of years ago, when they happened upon a basket of fruit in the forest and helped each other drag it home to their friends.

They do everything together now. Hazel is great at getting mats out of Zeus's long fur, and Zeus helps Hazel with her spelling. He knows a lot of words that aren't in the dictionary.

Leia is on her way home from a successful play practice at the local woodland theater company. She managed to remember ALL her lines and the director complimented her on her costume! She can't wait to tell her friend Henry, because it will make his day! He had been working on it for two months and he even learned how to embroider. He never thought he would be good at it, but turns out it's his new favorite thing!

It's important to try to do new things. You never know what might be your next passion!
